Patterned to the Firearm: Bespoke Leather Holsters and Rifle Bags

A holster made for "a full-size 9mm" fits none of them well. A holster made for your pistol — its exact slide length, its trigger guard, its optic and light if it carries them — fits like a glove and retains without a strap. That is the whole difference between production and bespoke leatherwork.

Patterning

We begin with the firearm itself, or a precise dummy of it. The pattern is drawn around it, allowing for the fold, the stitch line and the thickness of the leather once formed. Cant, ride height and belt width are set with the client. For rifle and shotgun slips, we measure the gun with its scope and sling so nothing is forced.

The leather

Full-grain vegetable-tanned leather for holsters — it wet-forms crisply and holds its shape for decades. Bridle leather for straps and slips, where suppleness matters. A distressed heritage finish for clients who want the piece to look inherited from the first day. Colours: classic brown, black, tan, oxblood, and custom dyes matched to a presentation case or a set of grips.

Forming and stitching

The holster is wet-moulded over the firearm so the leather takes every line of it — the ejection port, the slide stop, the trigger guard. Once dry it is stitched by hand with a saddle stitch: two needles, one waxed thread, each stitch locked so that a cut thread does not run. Edges are bevelled, burnished and sealed. Hardware — snaps, D-rings, buckles — is solid brass, nickel or blacked to match the gun.

Personalisation

The fibre laser that marks our Cerakote work marks leather with the same precision. Initials, a name, a family crest, a quote, unit insignia or a symbol of your own design — cut cleanly into the grain, then dyed or left tonal. We keep the mark proportionate. Leather is quiet; the personalisation should be too.
